Bharat Vann™ – An Indian Adaptation of the Miyawaki Methodology
Bharat Vann is a dense native forest plantation methodology developed by Enviro Creators Foundation (Forest Creators) and adapted to India’s climate, topography, soils and local ecosystems – built on the global science of the Miyawaki method and on indigenous Indian knowledge.
What is Bharat Vann?
Bharat Vann (also written Bharat Van) is an Indianised version of the Miyawaki methodology – a way of growing dense, multi-layered native forests in a fraction of the time that nature normally takes, tuned for Indian conditions.
Inspired by the pioneering work of Japanese botanist Dr. Akira Miyawaki, Enviro Creators Foundation (Forest Creators) has successfully planted over 4 million trees across 12 Indian states, gaining extensive experience in developing dense, native forests under diverse environmental conditions – from coastal and saline sites to dry, degraded and urban land.
Building on this experience, we have Indianised the Miyawaki methodology and developed Bharat Vann, a dense forest plantation approach specifically adapted to India’s diverse climatic conditions, topography, soil characteristics and local ecosystems.
How Bharat Vann adapts the Miyawaki method for India
The core idea – many native species planted densely so that they grow together as a self-sustaining forest – stays the same. What changes is how the plantation is prepared, planted and looked after on Indian soil.
100% natural Indian soil enrichment
Soil is enriched using traditional Indian inputs such as cow dung, compost and jeevamrut – building living soil, microbial activity and fertility naturally.
Modified plantation spacing
Plantation spacing is modified to suit Indian native species, soils and local growing conditions.
Improved pit preparation
Pit preparation is adapted to the soil and terrain of each site across India’s varied landscapes.
Irrigation suited to Indian climate
Irrigation practices are modified to suit Indian climatic conditions and support healthy early growth.
Practical maintenance
Maintenance practices are made practical for Indian field conditions, based on years of hands-on experience.
Labour-centric & sustainable
The methodology is designed to be labour-centric, practical and sustainable under Indian conditions – creating local livelihoods while restoring land.
Recognised by the Delhi Forest Department
Bharat Vann is now being implemented in a project undertaken for the Delhi Forest Department, which is also recognising this adapted dense plantation methodology under the name Bharat Vann.
It represents our commitment to combining globally inspired ecological science with indigenous Indian knowledge and practical field experience to restore native forests across the country.
Why Bharat Vann?
- Dense native forests – multi-layered plantations of locally suited species that mimic natural forests.
- Rooted in Indian knowledge – cow dung, compost and jeevamrut as natural soil-enrichment inputs.
- Adapted to India – designed for diverse climate, topography, soil and ecosystems.
- Backed by field experience – 4 million+ trees across 12 states.
- Government-recognised – adopted by name on a Delhi Forest Department project.
- Livelihood-friendly – labour-centric and practical to implement at scale.
Bharat Vann for CSR partners, corporates and government bodies
Large-scale forest restoration is often delivered through institutional partnerships. Bharat Vann is designed for exactly this kind of work.
CSR programmes
Create dense native forests through CSR programmes, with support for planning, plantation and maintenance.
Forest departments & government schemes
Restore degraded forest land, urban green patches and public spaces through government and public-sector programmes.
Large grants & institutional funding
Deliver high-impact afforestation projects for foundations, industry and institutions looking to fund restoration at scale.
Bharat Vann and the Miyawaki method
The Miyawaki method – created by Dr. Akira Miyawaki – grows dense native forests much faster than conventional plantations. Forest Creators has worked with it since 2014. Bharat Vann is the next step: the same ecological principles, refined through years of Indian field experience.

Bharat Vann – Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bharat Vann?
Bharat Vann is a dense native forest plantation methodology that Indianises the Miyawaki method. It was developed by Enviro Creators Foundation (Forest Creators) and is adapted to India’s diverse climate, topography, soil and local ecosystems.
Is Bharat Vann the same as the Miyawaki method?
Bharat Vann is inspired by the Miyawaki method of Dr. Akira Miyawaki but is not identical to it. It keeps the principle of dense, multi-species native forests and adapts the soil enrichment, plantation spacing, pit preparation, irrigation and maintenance practices to Indian conditions.
What is Bharat Van – is it the same as Bharat Vann?
“Bharat Van” (भारत वन) is a common alternative spelling. The methodology and trademarked name is Bharat Vann™, developed by Forest Creators.
How is Bharat Vann different from the standard Miyawaki method?
Bharat Vann uses 100% natural Indian soil-enrichment ingredients – cow dung, compost and jeevamrut – and includes modifications in plantation spacing, pit preparation, irrigation and maintenance. It is also designed to be labour-centric, practical and sustainable under Indian conditions.
Who developed Bharat Vann?
Bharat Vann was developed by Enviro Creators Foundation (Forest Creators), which has planted over 4 million trees across 12 Indian states.
Where is Bharat Vann being implemented?
Bharat Vann is being implemented in a project undertaken for the Delhi Forest Department, which also recognises the adapted dense plantation methodology under the name Bharat Vann.
Is Bharat Vann trademarked?
Yes. Bharat Vann™ is a trademark of Enviro Creators Foundation (Forest Creators). Please contact us before using the name or logo.
Can CSR partners or government bodies fund a Bharat Vann forest?
Yes. Bharat Vann is designed for CSR programmes, government and forest-department projects and larger institutional grants. Contact us to discuss a project.
